As an artist, I find myself heavily influenced by my environment and surroundings. I rarely have time to go outside and just observe nature, so most of my work is subjective. Traveling to Florence was an extreme change to my environment and as we went to places like the Boboli Gardens, I was amazed. I was forced into a very natural environment and it allowed me to focus on the importance and conservation of nature.

Surrounded by this beautiful landscape, I was very inspired by different depictions of light in different areas of the Gardens. As we were walking up a hill I noticed this empty spot in the trees that framed a yellow house in the distance. I appreciated the contrast of the dark foreground to the vibrant background. I took the photo without knowing how it would come out and moved along to see more of the gardens.
