About the event
***THIS TRIP IS MEMBERS ONLY***
CBG Members are invited to a Shoal Lily Excursion on May 18th at Flat Shoals Creek. Please arrive at CBG no later than 1:00pm. The vans will depart from CBG at 1:15pm to travel to the site together. Explore the beautiful blooms of these rare lilies in their natural habitat guided by shoal lily researcher, Sarah Tash from Auburn University's Wetland and Riparian Lab. This unique experience offers an up-close look at one of nature’s most stunning floral displays without having to venture into the water.
This trip will start and end at CBG. Transportation is provided. **All guests are required to use the provided transportation.**
This trip contains a moderate amount of activity. The hike to the trails is a 10-15 minute and is a moderate difficulty. Please wear proper footwear.
The viewing site is more accessible than many others in our region but is still remote with no cell service, no restroom available, and a moderate trail walk. Depending on water levels and flow, we may be able to wade into the creek. Waivers will be required.

Potential Questions:
Do we have to ride in the vans? - YES! Due to the remoteness of the site and limited parking, all participants must ride with us in the vans, and we do have a hard cap at 26 people.
What to wear? - You know yourself best, so whatever you’re comfortable being outside in! We encourage breathable clothing, hats and sunglasses for sun protection, comfortable walking shoes like tennis shoes, hiking boots or athletic sandals with a heel strap. Wear sunscreen and bug spray and bring it along with you!
Will we be getting in the water? - Depending on water level and flow this may be an option if you want to wade into the shoal, but getting in the water will not be required to see the Shoal Lilies from this site.
Will food be provided? - Light snacks and water will be provided but please eat before you arrive and bringing your own snacks and water is encouraged!
